The Predator franchise was created based on the American science fiction action film Predator released in 1987 starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. The settings of each game change, with most of the stories taking place far in the future.

The game offers players a gaming experience of thrilling hunts, survival, and battles. The Predator is a fearsome and gruesome monster, that quickly became one of the most popular monster characters based on which a series of comics, movies, and video games were released.

12. Predators (2010)

Predators (2010) is a real-time strategy mobile game released for the iOS and Android platforms. It was developed by Angry Mob Games. This single-player game is based on the 2010 film of the same name.

In the game, players get to play the role of the predator and hunt the humans that were dropped on the planet. It has 24 levels to complete. Players can make use of various weapons, such as wrist blades and Smart discs.

Predators received positive reviews praising its great controls and the overall predator experience it gives off.

11. Predator (1987)

Even though it doesn’t hold up to modern standards, the Predator is a true classic side-scrolling action game based on the 1987 film Predator. It is the first-ever game based on the franchise.

In this single-player, the player begins with no weapons at all and has to collect them as the game goes on. The game uses similar imagery and characters from the film. It was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System platform along with other platforms of the time like BBC Micro, MSX, and Atari.

The Predator received mixed reviews across all the platforms, with players criticizing the flaws with the graphics and poor controls while also stating that the gameplay did not have much in common with the movie narrative.

10. Predator: Concrete Jungle (2005)

Predator: Concrete Jungle is a 2005 action video game developed by Eurocom for PlayStation 2 and Xbox consoles. It has a Metascore of 46. The game follows the story of the predator (Scarface) who was exiled by his clan.

The predator is returning to Earth after a hundred years to seek redemption and regain his honor by killing the humans who have stolen his technology. It can be played in first-person and third-person modes.

The players control the predator and get to explore an entire futuristic city and a variety of weapons. The game did receive a lot of critique for its poor controls, graphics, and awkward gameplay.

9. Alien Vs Predator: Requiem (2007)

Alien Vs Predator Requiem is exclusively for the PlayStation Portable console. It is an adaptation of the film of the same name released in the same year. Its portability and engaging gameplay made it a hit for players on the go.

It is a third-person action game developed by Rebellion Developments in 2007. The storyline follows the Predator who comes to Earth after hearing a distress call. It finds an alien infestation which he destroys before leaving Earth. 

The game received mixed reviews with praises for its audio design and graphics, but also complaints about its poor controls and players finding it too easy.

8. Alien Vs Predator (1993)


Alien Vs Predator (1993) was developed by Jorudan Co. for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It is a side-scrolling action game and the earliest game in the Alien vs Predator crossover series.

The story is set on the planet Vega 4, where predators are dead-set on completely erasing aliens from the planet as they feel threatened by them.

The player takes the role of the Predator and has to advance six levels, fighting various types of aliens and an alien boss in each level. Gamers have given the game an IMDB rating of 6.3/10. 

7. Predator: Hunting Grounds (2020)

With a Metascore of 56, Predator: Hunting Grounds is one of the latest Predator games released after almost a decade. Developed by Illfonic, it was released for PlayStation 4 and Windows in 2020.

Set in the remote jungles of South America, it offers gamers a trending asymmetrical multiplayer gaming style similar to Friday the 13th and Among Us. In the game, one player takes on the role of the predator and hunts a team of marines who attempt to complete a mission and survive.

The game perfectly captures the intense atmosphere of the movie. Even though the game promised a lot of potential, players faced issues with long load times, unbalanced gameplay, and terrible graphics.

6. Aliens Versus Predator: Extinction (2003)

A unique entry in the series, Aliens Versus Predator: Extinction is a real-time strategy (RTS) game developed by Zono for PlayStation 2 and Xbox. The players choose between Aliens, Predators, or Human marines and command their units to victory.

The gameplay is highly combat-oriented and a single-player campaign spans 21 missions, with 7 levels for each species. With a Metascore of 64, the game received mixed reviews for its AI problems, unclear graphics, and bad controls.

But its innovative approach to the crossover universe between the Alien and Predator franchise made it a standout.

5. Alien Vs. Predator (2010)

Alien Vs. Predator (2010) is a first-person perspective video game developed by Rebellion Developments for PlayStation 3, PC, and Xbox 360. It has a Metascore of 65 and is a fan favorite due to its exciting gameplay.

The game offers three different campaigns, one each for each faction ( humans, aliens, and predators). Each faction has its own play style and abilities.

The Predator’s gameplay in this is one of the best yet, heavily based on stealth and tactics than the average first-person shooter. The game received a lot of praise for its multiplayer feature and excellent atmosphere.

4. Alien Vs. Predator (1994)

A true classic, Alien Vs. Predator (1994) is a beat-up video game developed and released by Capcom for arcades. In the game, players can choose between four characters – two human marines and two predators.

The game’s tight controls, satisfying combat, and visual style made it a favorite for arcade enthusiasts. In 2013, it was ranked as the 12th top beat ’em up video game of all time by Heavy.com. 

3. Alien Vs. Predator (1994)

Developed by Rebellion Developments for Atari Jaguar and Atari Lynx, Alien Vs. Predator (1994) is a first-person shooter video game. The story is set on the USS Golgotha, a Colonial Marine training ship that gets invaded by Predators and infested by Aliens simultaneously.

The graphics might be a little lacking, but the chilling soundtrack sure does make up for it. The game influenced all the later Alien and Predator games in the series. The game received a lot of praise for its engaging story and excellent gameplay. It was also included in several best game lists of that year.

2. Aliens v/s Predator (1999)

A first-person shooter video game developed by Rebellion Developments for PC, Mac OS, Linux, and Nintendo Game Boy. Once again, players can either play as an Alien, Predator, or Colonial Marine, each faction displaying different abilities and weapons.

But, each character follows a different storyline, separate from each other. With an IMDB score of 8.0/10, the game has received critical praise for its solid visuals, audio, and atmosphere.

1. Aliens v/s Predator 2 (2001)

Monolith Productions took over from Rebellion, and upgraded the game completely, from its visuals, soundtrack, lighting, and weapons to the actual plot. With thrilling and smooth first-person shooter gameplay, the game boasts a Metascore of 85.

This video game was released for PC and MacOS platforms. Just like its prequel, the players get to control any one of the three factions, Marines, Aliens, or Predators.

However, unlike the previous game, this time the narratives are linked to each other, with a more cohesive storyline. Even after all these years, Aliens v/s Predator 2 remains one of the most iconic game of the franchise.
