Li Lin is a Chinese entrepreneur who founded the Bitcoin trading platform Huobi in 2013, one of the biggest brands and a huge player in the market. He is the creator of Huobi and it still remains one of the top exchanges in the world. He also donated RMB 27 million to the Fengnan Country Flame Education Foundation to support underprivileged students in 2013. Li Lin is also the founder of Firecoin Network, ranked 556 and he ranked 5th in the blockchain.
However, before founding the Huobi group in 2013, Li Lin held the role of a computer engineer at Oracle. It is to be noted that Li Lin received recognition for his contributions to the blockchain sector his notable achievements include the 2018 China Fintech Award for Outstanding Contribution and another 2018 China Internet Finance Association Award for Outstanding Entrepreneur.
Early Life Of Li Lin
Li Lin earned his Master’s degree in Control Science and Engineering in 2007 from Tsinghua University. He was more like an early advocate for Bitcoin and later aimed to expand awareness and adoption of blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies. After earning his Master’s degree, he worked as a computer engineer at Oracle. He then initiated his entrepreneurial pursuits in 2009 by establishing several internet ventures like Renrenzhe, which is a lifestyle search platform in China.
Later in 2013, Li Lin founded HTX.com or Huobi, which expanded its operations to over 130 countries. As the CEO of Huobi, he participated in international discussions on blockchain to highlight its potential to influence global business and value exchange.
About HTX
Talking about HTX, which was previously known as Huobi, is a cryptocurrency trading platform based in China. It has expanded its operations to over 130 countries and in August 2018, it became a publicly listed Hong Kong company. In a 2017 ban on Bitcoin exchanges by the Chinese government, Huobi had to stop Bitcoin withdrawals.
However, Houbi China continues to function as a blockchain consulting and research platform. As for its profits, in March 2018, Huobi processed around US $1 billion in trades daily and its name changed to HTX in September 2023. As for the connection between Li Lin and HTX, in October, Li Lin sold his entire stake in the platform to a buyout firm that is managed by About Capital Management (HK). After this transaction, Li Lin retired from the exchange’s operations and had no involvement in HTX’s business activities.
