An overview of Disney Dreamlight Valley

Disney Dreamlight Valley is an adventure game released on September 6, 2022, for PlayStation 4. It was developed and published by Gameloft, and the game includes countless quests and tasks to keep the players busy. In the beginning, it may seem quite overwhelming to play the game. It is important to know the basics of the game to level up, add new villagers, and unlock plenty of items to construct the players’ dream Valley. Here are some tips for beginners regarding the things to keep in mind while playing Disney Dreamlight Valley:

Disney Dreamlight Valley Gameplay

1. Tracking quests to easily find the way

To find objectives for your current Disney Dreamlight Valley tasks without trouble, ensure you open the Quests menu tab, select a quest, and choose ‘Track Quest’. This allows you to follow a floating beam of light to the location you need to visit next and you can also click on certain map icons, for buildings and Disney characters. You will then receive a glittering trail that shows you the path you need to take next.

2. Ensure you open clothing packs, furniture packs, and recipes

The rule of thumb is to always open clothing packs, furniture packs, and recipes. This is something easy to forget at the beginning of the gameplay and you may be rewarded with a single new item of cooking recipe, clothing, or furniture. However, this is not redeemed automatically and you should collect it. They take a valuable slot in your Backpack, so when you collect them, go to your inventory immediately and use it to receive the item.

3. Carry some decent foods while exploring to gain energy

Understand that it is important to carry some decent foods and meals to recover energy on the go. At the beginning of the game, you will spend a lot of time exploring and carrying out some of the core resource-gathering activities which will consume a lot of your energy. So, ensure you save a few backpack inventory slots for food items, which will allow you to explore more and not have to go home every few minutes to refill. You can start with Apples and once you unlock cooking, try to make Fruit Salad, Grilled Fish, and Veggie Pasta which are easy to make and offer a good chunk of energy.

4. Upgrade your backpack straight away

When you start playing, you won’t have many inventory slots or external places for storage, making it difficult to choose what to hold onto and what to discard. In that situation, it is best to invest your early game Star Coins into upgrading your Backpack space, which will allow you to hold all the goodies you will be collecting.

5. Talk to everyone

You will only have a few characters at the very beginning of the game but ensure you talk to everyone. You can find a dialogue option with a speech bubble, which revolves around a question or statement. However, you will be given another dialogue option halfway through the conversation no matter what option you choose. This helps increase the Friendship Level and can be done once per day. You will have to check in every 24 hours with everyone to see progress and warn unique rewards.

6. Hang out with friends more often

You can assign a character to specific Roles once you reach Friendship Level 2 with a character. No matter which role you assign, whenever you decide to do activities like fishing, mining, or harvesting, find a character and request to hang out. Once you do this, the character will follow you and partake in activities, which will increase the Friendship Level with them.

7. Frequently check the Collection menus to learn about the items in the game

The Collection menu will provide information on pretty much anything in Disney Dreamlight Valley. You can find the Memories, crafting recipes you discovered, about the characters currently living in your valley, clothes you own, and furniture you started collecting.

8. Check the Disney Dreamlight Valley map

Another main aspect of the Disney Dreamlight Valley game is its map. You can access information regarding the locations of all Disney villagers, which allows you to find them easily and gift or chat with them. You can easily find characters as they will have a little quest marker on their icon which will let you know they have a new quest available or an active quest you are currently working with.

9. Complete challenges and duties to unlock new Villages and Realms

Always ensure you check Disney Dreamlight Valley Dreamlight challenges to see your progress in completing an objective. You can find these under the Dreamlight menu and will be rewarded with increasing amounts of Dreamlight upon completion.

10. Check for any favorite gifts

Even though you will have the option to give a character any item in your inventory, you can find a small bar at the bottom of the gifting menu, which will display specific items that the character would love to receive. If you gift those items, you will in turn receive a boost to your Friendship Level.

11. Learn how to replenish stamina quickly and easily

Since the game functions on a Stamina system that indicates the amounts of actions you can perform, it is easy to know when your stamina levels are low. Eating food items on the go can help maintain stamina or simply entering your home will instantly refill the Stamina bar.

12. Craft chests for the house to increase storage space

Storage space will be a bit scarce in the earlier stage of the game. You will have a chest in your house with 21 backpack inventory slots but upgrading them can be challenging and costly for beginners. For temporary storage space, it is best to craft a chest for 25 softwood and 25 rock, which will provide an extra 16 storage slots.

13. Complete Disney Dreamlight Valley character quests for tool upgrades

As you play the game, you will bump into plenty of Disney characters. This will also lead you to unlock new Village biomes and Realms, with many of these characters offering essential tool upgrades. These tools can help break down new materials that you previously could not.

14. Check in daily

Understand that the real-world time is connected to the time in the gameplay. So, log in daily and check into the game at different times of the day to find unique critters to befriend. Try speaking with your Disney Villagers daily and give them gifts to boost your Friendship Levels with them. Also, there will be plenty of daily chores to complete, so it is best to log in daily and catch up with the game.
